Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to His Apostles continues in the Church today. It includes three degrees—bishop, priest, and deacon—and is conferred through the laying on of hands and the prayer of consecration. Through this sacrament, men are given the grace and responsibility to teach, sanctify, and serve the People of God in a lifelong ministry.
