Baptism brings someone into the life of the Church. It cleanses sin, makes you a member of Christ’s Body, and marks the foundation of sacramental life.

Baptisms at St. John Cantius Parish are usually held on the first Sunday of the month at 10:00 am Mass or the third Sunday at 1:00 pm, after all Masses, with other times possible upon approval. Parents having their first child baptized—or those whose children are older than three—must attend a Pre-Baptism (Pre-Jordan) class, offered on the second Wednesday of each month (September through June) at 6:45 pm, and should bring their child’s birth certificate. There is no fee for the sacrament, though families may make a voluntary thanksgiving donation. If you wish to have a visiting priest or deacon perform the baptism, they must contact the Pastor at least one week in advance, and clergy from outside the archdiocese must provide a letter of good standing from their bishop.
